William W. Stringer, M.D.

William W. Stringer, M.D. is a Professor of Medicine in the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA , and is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary, and Critical Care Medicine.  Dr. Stringer is active in respiratory patient care, teaching (medical students, residents and fellows), medical administration, and lung research at the Lundquist Institute for Biomedical Innovation at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.  His research interests are in Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (COPD), Long Haul COVID, exercise physiology, pulmonary function testing, and rehabilitation science. He is married and has four adult children.  Dr. Stringer has mentored both research and medical career trainees throughout his career at Harbor and his hobbies include cycling, Bluegrass banjo, and the medical humanities.

Dr. Stringer received his undergraduate and medical degree from the University of California, San Diego and his Internal Medicine Residency and Pulmonary and Critical Care Training at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.  He is currently the Division Chief of the Respiratory and Critical Care, Physiology and Medicine Division and a Pulmonary and Intensive Care attending at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.  He was  previously the chairman of the Department of Medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center from 2000 to 2015.
